competitive figure skating costs
This is what it will cost me to train and compete at a level necessary to reach Nationals this season.
Annual Costs
Equipment (one pair of boots and blades) - $900
Coaching - $1,500 per month, $18,000
Ice Time - $800 per month, $9,600
Competition Attire (two costumes per season) - $700
Season Competitions (3-4 per year) - $3,000
South Atlantic Regional Championships - $1,000
Eastern Sectional Championships - $1,000
U.S. Figure Skating Championships - $2,000
Some of the best skaters in the country train daily with coaches morning and afternoon – their costs are much higher than this. With out any assistance, my parents are responsible for the total costs. I also have an older sister who skates competitively, so the financial burden is double.
Your generosity in support of my skating can be made in several ways. The most common ways are
corporate sponsorships, direct donations, or donation through the New England Amateur Skating
Foundation – a non-profit organization.
